with Ife Day presents Les Retournéex / Camila Nebbia / Marcioz / Gibrana Cervantes / Juçara Marçal & Cadu Tenório present Anganga / Dj Latinchat 
 
The lineup for our first event features the European premiere of Anganga, a contemporary reinterpretation of vissungos – music by enslaved Africans in Brazil – by the duo comprised of the renowned singer Juçara Marçal in collaboration with Rio de Janeiro’s prolific experimental electronic musician Cadu Tenório; Ife Day presenting Les Retournéexmetamorphic beings, a vampire and a little being bond in order to empty reality; Camila Nebbia, a sax player debasing hierarchical systems by exploring migrational counterpoints; Marcioz presenting Entrelaços, a piece that creates new sonic narratives for the Afro-Brazilian instrument Repinique; violinist, composer, and improviser Gibrana Cervantes blending noise and melody resulting in emotive and contemplative pieces; and DJ Latinchat combining influences from Caribbean and Latin American rhythms like dancehall, cumbia, reggaeton, salsa and festejo with elements from ambient, techno, kosmische musik and UK bass.
 
The event features pop-up food by Roots Radicals, a Berlin-based handcrafted, zero-waste food company that focuses on reconnecting people to good food. Care, time, and love are their added ingredients, carrying the magic and wisdom needed to channel lost traditions.

In the diaspora, as well as under occupation, Palestinians are challenged to take on the responsibility of preserving and sharing our culture and stories. Some of us do this through art.
 
This collage of music, sounds, and conversations serves as a medium, capable of amplifying our voices and reminding us that we are a resilient community, resisting victimhood. The diaspora remains a place for intimacies in opacity, undesirable for the outsider, willingly open, and messy to losing control of transmissions not limited to the written word but resonates in a multitude of practices.
 
This year’s discourse program is composed of artists and researchers from diverse backgrounds and practices. They will share an introduction to the hybrid pieces they developed with and for RSLA, and follow with a discussion and reflection on their work’s process and this year’s premise.

Acoustics with Alexis Campos
 
Alexis Campos is an acoustic consultant from Lima, Peru, with more than eight years of experience in the recording studio design and implementation market in Peru, Chile, Germany, and Japan. Chair of the Audio Engineering Society AES – Peru, and Master in acoustic engineering from the University of Cadiz in Spain, he has designed more than 70 recording and production studios.
 
In this workshop, Campos will show the basic concepts for acoustic treatment of spaces where musicians and producers work. He will share examples of acoustical treatment of home studios that were developed on a budget and using materials and ideas that are easily available.

Nicole L’Huillier, is a transdisciplinary artist from Santiago de Chile. Her practice centers on exploring sounds and vibrations as construction materials to delve into questions of agency, identity, collectivity, and the activation of a vibrational imagination. Born in Lima, Peru, and based in New York, sound artist, curator, and abstract turntablist Maria Chavez explores the language of chance, coincidence, and failure, through improvised turntable performances, book objects, sound sculptures, installations, and writing.

with Lila Tirando a Violeta (Live) / Dengue Dengue Dengue /  Dj Babatr / KENYA20HZ 
 
Lila Tirando a Violeta’s live show kicks off the night with her enigmatic sounds, showing her ability to synthesize and transform an infinite range of influences while still remaining true to her core. Followed by the duo Dengue Dengue Dengue who for more than 10 years have explored rhythms from Latin, African, and Anglo culture, re-creating them in electronic form by mixing old and new, and analog and digital, resulting in a unique sound accompanied by hand-crafted visuals. The second part of the night will continue escalating with Dj Babatr considered a reflection of the Venezuelan sound that rethinks and reinterprets electronic music from its context and flavor, transgressing pre-established parameters that previously influenced the scene, taking as a starting point genres such as Hard Techno and Ghetto House. Closing is DJ, music producer, and cultural researcher KENYA20HZ from Rio de Janeiro. She stands out for exploring all the possibilities of low frequencies through her rhythmic connections, as well as her research focused on Urban, Experimental, and Electronic Music. Since 2016, she has been building her name in the international artistic community with simultaneous activities in the areas of Multimedia Research, Technology, and Art.
